About the job: 

As a Mechanical Fitter at Kent, you will play a crucial role in in the assembly and installation of mechanical systems and equipment including: Compressors, Pumps, Piping, Valves, Heat Exchangers and Pressure Equipment. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, precision, and dedication to quality workmanship.



Your responsibilities:  
  • Assemble and disassemble mechanical components and machinery following technical drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Conduct quality checks and inspections to verify the accuracy and precision of assembled components, making necessary adjustments when needed.
  • Be a self-starter and able to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Ability to mark out and measure accurately.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to workplace safety and the safety of your co-workers.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Maintain and care for equipment, tools, and machinery, ensuring they are in proper working condition.
  • Collaborate with other team members, including engineers, QA/QC inspectors, and construction management team, to achieve project goals and timelines.
  • Keep detailed records of work performed: including Flange Management Tags, Test packs and Workpacks.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while working with potentially hazardous materials and equipment.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices to enhance skills and knowledge.


Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: 



Qualification/ Certification: 

Mandatory:

  • Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Fitting/Machining) or Equivalent 
  • Be able to read and understand Isometric and P&ID Drawings
  • Flange Integrity/Management experience 
  • Hydrotesting experience 
  • RIIWHS204 Work at Heights competency – (within previous 2 years)
  • RIIWHS202 Enter and work in a Confined Space (within previous 2 years)
  • Construction White Card       
  • Valid Australian Driver's License – C Class

Certification can include:

  • Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Machining) 
  • Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Fitting)
  • International Trade Certificate - Australian Recognised

Highly regarded:

  • Experience working in a live brownfield's environment in Oil Refineries / Petro-chemical / Power Stations / LNG, considered advantageous 
  • Experience working within LOTO and Permit to Work systems
  • Installation of Column Internals incl: Trays, Downcomers, Demisters etc.; experience considered advantageous 
  • Installation of Rotating Equipment incl: Pumps, Motors and Reciprocating Compressor experience considered advantageous 
  • Flange Facing Tooling operation experience considered advantageous 
  • Clamshell Tooling operation experience considered advantageous 
  • High Risk Work License – WP
