Doxa Community Club is seeking a compassionate and approachable Casual Counsellor or Chaplain to support patrons across our Melbourne venues. This role provides meaningful engagement through counselling or pastoral care, helping individuals who may be experiencing challenges such as gambling harm, relationship difficulties, grief, substance use, or other personal issues.

About the Role

· Provide counselling or pastoral care to patrons in a non-judgemental and supportive manner.

· Actively engage with patrons in both public areas (including gaming rooms) and private consultations.

· Deliver a consistent presence across our venues – 5 hours per week at Central Point Melbourne and 5 hours at Clocks at Flinders (total 10 hours across 2 days).

· Assist in crisis situations and make referrals to specialist services where required.

· Maintain accurate, confidential records and contribute to regular feedback discussions with management.

What We're Looking For

· Tertiary qualifications in counselling, pastoral care, psychology, social work, or theology, or equivalent experience, are preferred.

· Experience providing counselling or chaplaincy services, ideally within a community, welfare, or hospitality environment.

· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.

· Experience managing crises and referring clients to appropriate services.

· Professional, ethical, and committed to confidentiality.

· Understanding of issues related to gambling harm, addiction, grief, and mental health.

Pay Rate

· $48 – $55 per hour (casual, plus super), depending on qualifications and experience.
