Boldbridge Group is seeking a dynamic and highly capable Financial Controller to take full ownership of our finance function.

This is not a passive, back-office role. We're looking for a hands-on professional who thrives in a demanding, fast-paced environment and is eager to take responsibility, show accountability, and dive deep into the detail. You'll combine strong executive oversight with robust back-office expertise—balancing strategic financial leadership with practical day-to-day execution.

As a key member of the Boldbridge team, you will be instrumental in shaping the financial direction of the business, driving efficiency, and ensuring operational excellence. If you're an independent problem solver who takes pride in ownership and thrives on challenge, we want to hear from you.

Boldbridge is a modern and progressive food, beverage, gaming, events, and entertainment club group operating on the Sunshine Coast from two major locations, The Bower Tree and Nambour RSL Club. The Bower Tree is newly constructed major club located in Sippy Downs.

The Group has grown revenues to close to $40m from its membership that now sits at over 60,000.

Boldbridge is owned by its members and generates profits that are reinvested into better facilities and services. Profits are also donated locally to a growing list of sport and community organisations, charities, and projects.

The Financial Controller Role

While the company is now large with multiple operating departments and outlets, the Financial Controller role is one that requires you to remain hands-on, on a day to day basis. When required, the role then calls for the Financial Controller to prepare high level board and statutory reports, liaise with the company financiers with a high degree of professionalism, and undertake business analysis and planning with the executive management team.

There is a committed team of skilled and knowledgeable finance members for the Financial Controller to oversee and work with to achieve these functions. Boldbridge requires the Financial Controller to know and be able to perform most of the accounting functions in any of their absence. In other words, the ideal candidate must be able to understand and execute all of the financial functions of the Company over a reasonable time frame.

Onsite cash management remains a large part of the operations at Boldbridge. The Financial Controller therefore must be able to understand in-venue cash recycling and reconciliation systems, from point of sale tills to gaming cash clearances and safe reconciliations.

Boldbridge has very strong relationships with its financier, and this requires absolute accuracy of financial reporting, including banking covenants and P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow reporting and maintenance. Boldbridge forecasting is sophisticated also. The Company prepares detailed three-way budgets and forecasts to meet banking and internal governance requirements.

The role requires ownership and oversight of systems integration including point of sale, general ledger, payroll, inventory and creditors.

You'll also be called upon to identify and implement new technologies and management systems solutions for the Company.

The key specific roles for the Financial Controller include:

  • Ownership of the full month-end close process, including journals, reconciliations, and financial statements,
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis with precision and insight,
  • Maintain and improve internal financial controls, policies, and procedures,
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and banks,
  • Oversee accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and cash flow management,
  • Lead and mentor the finance team,
  • Support the executive leadership team with financial insights and analysis for decision-making, and
  • Identify and implement systems improvement and implement efficiencies across the finance function.
  • The Financial Controller reports directly to and works closely with the Group CEO.

The key financial systems suite at Boldbridge includes:

  • Xero, general ledger and financial reporting,
  • Calxa, budgeting and cashflow forecasting,
  • Swiftpos, point of sale system,
  • FoundU, payroll and rostering system, and
  • MaxGaming, gaming machine management and analysis
