Business Analyst Divestment

Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Kapital Consulting Full time $120,000 - $150,000 per year

About the Role

Kapital is partnering with a leading financial services organisation as they prepare for a significant business sale and separation program. We're building a divestment delivery team spanning infrastructure, data, applications, and business change. As a Business Analyst, you'll be the bridge between business and technology, translating strategy into actionable requirements, mapping end-to-end separation processes, and ensuring day-one readiness across impacted functions.

What's a Typical Day Look Like?

  • Elicit, document, and prioritise business and technical requirements across infrastructure, data, and application separation streams.
  • Produce current/future-state process maps, target operating models, and data lineage/flow diagrams for the carve-out.
  • Define separation scope, interfaces, controls, and data migration acceptance criteria (integrity, reconciliation, and security).
  • Support cutover planning (run sheets, dry-runs, defect triage) and coordinate UAT across business units.
  • Partner with technology, operations, investment teams, and vendors to align timelines, dependencies, and success metrics.
  • Maintain RAIDs (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies) and produce crisp status reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • Contribute to business readiness (training, comms, procedures) to minimise disruption post-separation.
  • Ensure compliance, security, and regulatory considerations are embedded in requirements and testing.

About You:

  • MUST HAVE: 5+ years as a Business Analyst in funds, investments, or wealth.
  • MUST HAVE: Hands-on BA experience in divestment, separation, or M&A within investment management.
  • Demonstrated exposure to one or more:
  • Infrastructure migrations (data centres, networks, servers)
  • Data separation & migration (controls, reconciliation, lineage)
  • Application separation (interfaces, access, licensing)
  • Business process separation & operational readiness
  • Strength in stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and translating complex tech topics for non-technical audiences.
  • Proven delivery in fast-paced, enterprise environments; comfortable with ambiguity and multiple workstreams.
  • Familiar with cutover planning, risk management, and testing practices.
  • Collaborative, pragmatic, and outcome-focused.

Whether your experience lies in infrastructure migrations, data separation, application separations, or operational readiness, we want to hear from you. Reach out to Amaleen — — or apply now to be part of a forward-thinking investment team
