Current Positions

Due to the recent growth and development of our Supported Indipendant Livng Services we are currently seeking experienced support workers to join our established teams and deliver a range of daily supports in our services across lower Brisbane suburbs. SRS understand the importance of positive "matching" the people we support and their support team . We aim to utilize the skills mix of the team as far as possible to offer the best possible service to our service users through acknowledging preferences, matching skills and knowledge, interests, and availability .Based on this we are looking to expand our team of mature Support Workers who can assist and encourage each participant to live a full and active life. Effective communication is key to building positive relationships and trust so workers must possess a high standard of communication skills, verbal, non verbal and written.

To be considered for this position you will have a demonstrated ability to provide in-home, community access, and assistance with activities of daily living to individuals with cognitive impairment, severe and enduring mental disorders and physical disabilities. Prefably with a minumume of 12 months paid experience in similar roles/setting. An understanding and commitment to providing Active Support Methodology alongside Person Centred Care Planning and implementation would be highly desirable across all of our services.

You would be working alongside an existing team of support workers with the availability of shadow shifts with ongoing support, supervision, and role-specific training. We have flexible shifts available over 7-days with enhanced weekend and evening rates with the opportunity to pick up additional shifts with the same or other service users.

We are a small, friendly care provider that nurtures positive relationships that pays attention to the finer detail that we feel makes a real difference to our service users, their families, support networks, and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centered 1:1 or 1:2 or 1:3 ratio (SIL) support to service users as identified in the service users' treatment, support, and NDIS plans, in a way that seeks to maximize independence through capacity building and empowerment to reach identified goals and outcomes.
  • Promote dignity and respect with sound knowledge of privacy, confidentiality, risk awareness, and duty of care principles.
  • Embrace positive and meaningful engagement with a flexible, reliable manner and responsive attitude that is non-discriminatory and non-oppressive.
  • Provide direct care and active support to the people we support with all activities of daily living in their own homes. This may include domestic duties, personal care, social support, medication assistance, manual handling, transport, meals and attending appointments, etc.
  • Assist service users to connect with their community, facilitating planned activities and outings, accompanying to community-based appointments and other resources as appropriate.
  • Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with all key stakeholders; clients, families, guardians, and involved services.
  • Update and maintain service user records via in-house recording system incl. administrative duties such as support shifts notes, incident reporting, and recording, etc.

Essential Criteria

  • Certificate III or IV in Disability Services or other sector-specific training or qualifications.(0r willingness to work towards)
  • Ability to effectively and adaptively communicate, both verbally, non-verbally and written to a high level
  • Able to work autonomously and within a team environment in accordance with operational health & safety policy guidelines.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • CPR Certificate
  • Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Right to work in Australia.
  • Referees from current/former employer/ supervisor.
  • Current Australian driver's license with access to a RELIABLE registered and insured vehicle.
