About Us
Neurosurgery is a dynamic and growing field of surgery incorporating both open and minimally invasive approaches such as endoscopic spine treatments.
The Monash Health service makes a major impact to the health and welfare of many patients across the life continuum.
Development of innovative techniques in cerebrovascular and spinal neurosurgery have meant high quality outcomes can be obtained with reduced complications and length of stays.
The neurosurgery unit practices with a core of general neurosurgery combined with an intermediate level of sub-specialisation. Many of the complex cases within the following sub-specialty areas are performed by a selected surgeon or a limited number of surgeons, appropriately trained and credentialed.
The Unit also has a dedicated research portfolio and provides support and supervision to candidates wishing to complete a higher degree. Multiple research projects are completed under its banner each year leading to publications and presentations.
