Are you a passionate and compassionate professional with a special interest in diabetes education? An exciting opportunity is now available at BRHS, the largest employer and healthcare provider in East Gippsland, to join our Community Nursing Team as a Diabetes Educator.

The Position: Ongoing, Part-Time 48.0 hours per fortnight. Available hours are negotiable, please specify your preference in your application.

In this role at BRHS you will perform individual health assessments, monitoring and education as well as facilitating health education to schools and community groups on a variety of issues pertaining to diabetes management. This position is responsible for aiding people to become informed of issues affecting their health, enabling them to accept and share responsibility in recognising their own health needs and make choices that are relevant/appropriate to their life situation. The role requires flexibility to provide outreach services as required.

The ideal applicant will demonstrate:

  • A Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional with current AHPRA registration
  • Advanced knowledge of diabetes management with the ability to deliver effective client education to individuals and groups.
  • An understanding of issues confronting clients in the community, particularly clients with diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients with low health literacy skills and with a range of health professionals.
