About the Molecular Imaging and Therapy Department

The Department of Molecular Imaging and Therapy has four core service components - NM, PET, BMD and Radionuclide Therapy. The Austin Campus operates with four SPECT/CT gamma cameras, three PET/CT scanners, an 18 MeV cyclotron, state of the art radiochemistry and radiopharmacy laboratories, extensive physics and chemistry support and research facilities. Repatriation Campus has two BMD scanners for the BMD service.

About the role

This role is based in the Bone Mineral Density Unit, which measures and assesses bone density and bone quality using Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA). Body Composition and fracture risk is also assessed using DXA.

Key elements of the role will include:

  • Scanning procedures in BMD in accordance with the scanning protocols and processing of computer generated data.
  • Accurate and reproducible measurements of all aspects of bone and mineral research, including bone density scanning and body composition measurements is essential.
  • Participation in the education of the general public in the area of osteoporosis.

About you

You will be someone who enjoys continuing professional development. You'll have excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to be flexible in your approach to work.

You'll further bring with you:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Radiations) in Medical Imaging or accepted equivalent
  • Accreditation by the Australian and New Zealand Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy.
  • Registration with AHPRA
