About the role

Due to ongoing success, we're seeking to add further capability by appointing a Senior Project Engineer (SPE) from Overhead Lines background to our projects and infrastructure business.

This key role will work across the full lifecycle of projects; being part of the initial tendering phase and extending into supporting the effective delivery of Projects. The role will also have indirect reports with some regional based Project Engineers reporting into the SPE. This will allow the successful candidate to play an integral part in the development of Project Engineers as well as extending into the continuous improvement of systems and process.

Our projects, primarily in civil, structural and electrical scope, include transmission lines and substations with projects ranging in value between $5M and $50M.

Projects are delivered in both metro and regional locations so working away on rosters may be required in the delivery phase. Depending on the roster, uplift of 10% - 25% applies as well as living away from home allowance (LAFA).

Your role will cover the following:

  • Scoping, coordinating, and delivering projects from proposal to execution, ensuring technical requirements are being fulfilled; scheduling, budgeting, and ensuring quality.
  • Developing and managing project budgets, forecasting costs, and tracking progress against the schedule.
  • Sourcing, coordinating, and directing site labour, procuring materials, plant, and equipment, and establishing programs for coordinating site activities.
  • Monitoring changes to designs, assessing impacts on cost, and negotiating variations.
  • Providing overall technical leadership on construction of transmission lines from survey to soil investigation, from piling to tower erection, and from stringing to commissioning.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with customers from the bidding phase to project execution.
  • Unwavering commitment to delivering projects safely.
  • Managing subcontractors.

A little about you:

To be selected for interview your resume will need to share details of a tertiary qualification in either Civil or Electrical Engineering with end-to end overhead lines project delivery experience from a utilities, infrastructure or construction industry.

Other requirements include:

  • A strong understanding of project engineering/design & overhead lines construct methodologies
  • Exceptional service delivery focus working across both small to medium projects
  • Experience in delivering projects to the highest safety standards considering cost control and budget preparation
  • Well rounded communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to develop individuals and teams
