Icon Cancer Centre Australia

Icon Cancer Centre Cairns is seeking applications from suitably qualified Radiation Oncologists to join our dedicated team serving the Far North Queensland community. This is a rare opportunity to build a rewarding career with Australia's largest dedicated cancer care provider, in a region known for its natural beauty, cultural diversity, and unique case mix.

  • Salaried role
  • Established referral networks and strong MDT pathways
  • Supportive, collaborative on-site team with national clinical governance
  • Ideal for clinicians seeking a diverse and meaningful practice

About the Role:

Reporting to the Director of Radiation Oncology, supported by Icon's extensive doctor network, and working closely with local clinical/operational teams, the primary purpose of this role is to provide high-quality, evidence-based Radiation Oncology services (consultation, treatment, and all associated clinical care) to Icon Cancer Centre patients.

Icon Cancer Centre Cairns delivers a broad range of tumour streams, with techniques including:

  • VMAT, IGRT, DIBH and Surface Guided RT
  • Stereotactic capabilities (intracranial and body)
  • Close involvement in established MDT meetings across multiple tumour streams

We are continuing to expand local stereotactic practice and developing new treatment pathways in partnership with Cairns Hospital, regional referring centres, and broader FNQ health services. This role offers the opportunity to maintain or grow a well-rounded clinical scope, contribute to service development, and influence care models in tropical and remote communities.

About You:

Icon is committed to providing the highest-level cancer services to our patients and referrers. We are looking for a highly motivated radiation oncologist to uphold and deliver that commitment.

The successful candidate will be someone who thrives in a close-knit multidisciplinary environment, working effectively with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure our patients receive exemplary care at all points throughout their experience with Icon.

This role is perfect for a clinician seeking to maintain a well-rounded, generalist skillset and care for a variety of patient presentations rather than being limited to single tumour streams. They will recognise this as an opportunity to secure a long-lasting and rewarding career in a beautiful region, or the perfect way to join and establish themselves within a leading cancer care provider with endless opportunities.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Current Registered Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
  • Sub-speciality training in Radiation Oncology holding the Fellowship of the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Radiation Oncologists (RANZCR)
  • The right to live and work in Australia
  • Compliance as a healthcare provider with credentialing and compliance requirements such as immunisation, insurance etc.
