Doral Mineral Sands Pty Ltd (DMS), mines and processes heavy mineral sands at Picton, Yalyalup and Keysbrook in the Southwest of WA. We are a medium sized business with a strong focus on our core values of safety, integrity, sustainability and collaboration. This multi-faceted role will provide an excellent opportunity if you enjoy a challenge and being an integral part of a small, motivated environmental team.

Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent and based primarily at our Yalyalup mine site approximately 15min East of Busselton, the ideal candidate will have a relevant qualification (or experience) and at least 2 years' experience working in a similar environment.

The position will be responsible for the successful completion of the following duties and roles:

  • Advise on all aspects of environmental management and monitoring.
  • Prepare and collate annual environmental compliance reports and to meet company commitments and comply with government agency requirements.
  • Liaise as required with government agencies, neighbouring land owners, contractors and community interest groups on environmental issues.
  • Advise on operational planning and design aspects with respect to approval commitments.
  • Prepare and maintain relevant environmental management plans and procedures as required.
  • Obtain relevant regulatory approvals or amendments required for mining and processing facilities.
  • Maintain the Environmental Management System
  • Coordinate and facilitate native revegetation and rehabilitation programs to ensure rehabilitation plans, objectives and targets are met.
  • Conduct regular field rehabilitation monitoring to evaluate conditions and take appropriate actions to ensure objectives and targets are met.
  • Co-ordinate the schedule and ensure environmental monitoring is undertaken as per licence requirements to ensure compliance.

Key Factors to your success include;

  • A minimum of 1-2 years' experience in similar capacity
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline (or relevant experience).
  • Experience with environmental monitoring and reporting systems, GIS tools and databases.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and negotiation skills.
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Competent with the use of the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
