About the Opportunity

You'll work with infants, children, and young people aged 0–18 and their families, supported by a long-term contract and a multidisciplinary team of Child and Family Health Nurses and Social Workers.

This role offers the perfect balance of autonomy and collaboration, with strong connections to DCJ, NGOs, Youth Health PARVAN, Paediatrics, Mental Health, and allied health services. Travel across various sites in the District and make a meaningful impact in a role that values both independence and teamwork.

What You'll be Doing

The Registered Nurse will provide safe, compassionate, quality, person centered care and work in collaboration with patients/families/carers and a multidisciplinary team to achieve identified goals and outcomes for children living in out of home care (OOHC).

Staying Safe in Community Directorate staff work within a trauma informed framework with an understanding of and responsiveness to the impact of trauma on children, young people and their families. The position will ensure that services are provided in a manner that is welcoming, safe and appropriate for all, including individuals, families and communities who have experienced trauma. By adopting a trauma-informed and family sensitive approach, health services can play a key part in identifying and meeting the needs of children, young people, individuals, families and communities who are vulnerable.

  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Child and Family Health qualification – Graduate Certificate OR willing to complete within 12 months of appointment
  • Demonstrated recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an environment appropriate to Child and Family Nursing
  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs of children and young people in OOHC and the impact of abuse, trauma and neglect on children and young people
  • Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
