The Role

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs and ESG, the Sustainability Manager plays a key role in developing, implementing, and embedding RCC's sustainability strategy. This role works collaboratively with the business to deliver tangible environmental reporting outcomes and support RCC's ESG commitments.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Implement and continually improve RCC's newly developed Sustainability Strategy and supporting policies
  • Track and report on sustainability performance, targets, and KPIs at project and corporate levels
  • Provide sustainability advice across project phases from design through to delivery and handover
  • Manage process development for initiatives such as carbon management tools, Sustainable Procurement Plans and Energy procurement guidelines
  • Deliver training to upskill RCC employees and site teams on sustainability practices
  • Prepare annual sustainability reporting data for internal and external stakeholders, including the AASB reporting requirements
  • Support tender submissions and client proposals with sustainability inputs and innovations
  • Engage with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to promote sustainability outcomes across the supply chain.
  • Support project teams to set up systems and processes to track scope 1,2 and 3 emissions

About You

Naturally, you will come with a passion for Sustainability in the built environment together with a commercial lens, and can-do attitude for implementation with a focus on outcomes. As a highly regarded Sustainability practitioner, with strong influencing skills, you will have proven capability working in a fast-paced organisation.

You will also have extensive experience in the property and/or infrastructure construction sector, including working with a wide range of stakeholders including senior executives. You are known for both your ability to achieve outcomes through collaboration and rolling up your sleeves to deliver outcomes.

In addition to this you will possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Built Environment, Finance, Sustainable Business, Business, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a corporate ESG role in the construction or property sector.
  • Experience/accountability in driving operational Sustainability outcomes across multiple complex projects.
  • Experience in green building principles, certifications (e.g. NABERS, Green Star, WELL or equivalent) and ESG benchmarks.
  • Understanding of property industry, climate change and topical matters such as net zero, electrification, embodied carbon and circular economy.
