About the Role

We are seeking applications for the role of Publicity Manager. This is an essential role driving positive media coverage for QPAC events and seasons, as well as QPAC as an organisation, by developing and delivering highly effective and targeted publicity campaigns and managing media queries as required. The role sits within the Communications Team and requires close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, working closely with two other Publicity Managers and the Head of Communications, as well as the social media team.

In this role you will:

  • Develop and manage publicity campaigns for external clients, co-productions and QPAC Presents productions including full delivery of media pitching, media activities and events, coordination of interview and photo opportunities.
  • Write media materials (such as media alerts and releases, longer-form stories for use online and social media copy) as required for distribution via QPAC's online media monitoring platform.
  • Work within QPAC's online media monitoring platform to regularly update external clients on media coverage for productions and build and distribute final publicity campaign reports internally and externally.
  • Work with the social media team to integrate social media activities into publicity campaigns, including creating digital content to enhance traditional publicity activities.
  • Provide publicity guidance and mentoring to resident ensembles and smaller arts organisations for publicity campaign planning and pitching.
  • Develop and manage QPAC media calls to promote upcoming productions including working with production company management to develop content of media call and availability of talent, invite and manage media on the day of the event.
  • In collaboration with fellow Publicity Managers, this role is responsible for the daily management of media requests, dissemination of media coverage throughout the organisation and internal briefing and management of media activities on site as required.
  • Work with the Communications Team to identify content opportunities from across the organisation to promote QPAC events and organisational values and providing advice on appropriate content for specific platforms.
  • Consistently maintain knowledge of best practice media, social media and content marketing trends to create a competitive advantage for QPAC and its stakeholders.
  • Actively develop and maintain highly effective working relationships with media across all channels, external and internal stakeholders and industry peers.
  • Write longer form articles promoting a more in-depth understanding QPAC and QPAC productions to contribute to QPAC's online newsroom.
  • Assist other QPAC departments with publicity needs and advice as required eg. Food and Beverage or Partnerships and Philanthropy.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for:

  • Demonstrated ability in developing and managing highly effective publicity campaigns.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data to make recommendations and prepare reports in relation to campaign effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple campaigns at once in a busy environment.
  • Demonstrated a high standard of oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise work and successfully negotiate solutions to competing demands by exercising initiative and judgement.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people and a commitment to quality service.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain highly effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
