Gallang Place is a not-for-profit First Nations Community Controlled organisation providing therapeutic healing programs for First Nations people and their families since Our services are evidence-based, client-centred and trauma informed.
Gallang Place is a trusted healing and support service for First Nations peoples, our services include:
· Counselling for individuals and families;
· Cultural Supervision; and
· Outreach and face-to-face support and mentoring.
To meet our increasing demand, we are seeking passionate and dedicated First Nations male and female AOD Facilitators and Counsellors to join our therapeutic healing and support teams in Brisbane.
ABOUT THE POSITION
We are seeking AOD Facilitators and Counsellors to join of our amazing team delivering AOD Programs to First Nation Men and Women in SE Qld Correctional Centres.
The successful applicants will receive training and support in delivering our AOD Program.
PLEASE NOTE This is an identified position to be filled by Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons as permitted by and arguable under sections 25, 104 and 105 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic First Nations AOD facilitators and counsellors committed to maintaining professional and culturally safe, trauma informed support to our First Nations clients.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Minimum of a Certificate IV or Diploma in Counselling, Youth Work, Community Service, Case Management or similar qualifications or experience.
- Understanding of therapeutic process such as Narrative and CBT;
- Experience delivering Alcohol and Other Drug training / programs to First Nations men and/or women;
- Ability to provide a safe place for people at risk of harm and responding to traumatic or critical incidences.
- Experience in creating respectful, meaningful, collaborative and inclusive relationships with clients.
- Demonstrate ability to liaise effectively with suitable support services and programs relevant to client's healing journey.
- Open to further training and on-going professional development, including professional supervision.
- Demonstrate experience to work in a team environment and follow set directions and plans to achieve desired outcomes.
- Record and keep safe accurate confidential client records and prepare reports as required.
- Must have a current driver's license.
- Must have a blue card and willing to undergo a criminal history check.
- Experience working within First Nations Community-controlled organisation or experience working within First Nations community is an advantage.
- Experience in the corrective services system
