About The Role
Our Federal Government Client is seeking an
IT Architect
. This is a long-term contract role until
June 2026
, with
three 6-month extension options
, located at our client's
Brisbane, Melbourne or Canberra offices.
As The Selected Candidate, You Will

• Engage with mainframe development and platform support teams to assess DevOps maturity.
• Map current development processes and identify developer pain points.
• Recommend and support the implementation of modernised tooling and processes to improve developer experience and delivery efficiency.
• Document current and future state architectures and process flows.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define and deliver pragmatic, iterative solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
• Contribute to automation initiatives supporting secrets and password rotation across AWS Secrets Manager and Azure Key Vault, or establishing an Internal Developer Portal.

To Be Successful In This Role You Should Have

• Proven experience as a Solution or IT Architect in large enterprise environments.

• Hands-on delivery experience with:

• z/OS mainframes and mainframe modernisation.

• DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines (preferably Azure DevOps or Ansible).

• Strong documentation skills for current/future state architectures and process flows.

• Ability to identify and resolve developer pain points through automation and tooling.
• Experience with secrets management and key rotation practices is a plus.
• Familiarity with test automation or internal developer portals is desirable.

It Is Desirable If You Have

• Experience mentoring staff and transitioning system knowledge.
• Familiarity with ATO architectural processes and documentation standards.
• Ability to define subsystems, interfaces, and deployment strategies.
• Understanding of solution costs, SLAs, and supportability attributes.
• Experience establishing and documenting critical non-functional requirements (NFRs).
• Participation in Agile ceremonies and planning events.
• Capability to develop and maintain the Architectural Runway.

Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with Baseline Security Clearance (must already hold).
