The Attorney-General's Department (AGD) Workforce Planning & Reporting team delivers centralised workforce data, reporting and analysis to support evidence-based decision making across the department.
Our goal is to improve data quality, consistency and visibility, enabling our leaders to make faster and more informed workforce decisions. We play a key role across the APS in the accuracy and visualisation of analytics and are continually improving and automating our reporting processes.
As a Workforce Data Analyst (APS5), you will deliver workforce metrics, reports and insights that support departmental and APS-wide requirements. You will work with colleagues across HR, Information Division and Data & Behavioural Insights to develop meaningful data products and visualisations that support AGD's strategic priorities - including workforce planning, gender pay gap reporting and parliamentary requests.
As of a small and supportive team, you will work with limited direction to deliver timely, accurate and insightful workforce reporting. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, refining processes and finding practical ways to turn information into insights.
How you can make a difference

- develop, test and maintain workforce reports and dashboards using systems such as Aurion, Power BI and our Learning Management System
- produce a range of regular and ad hoc workforce reports, including headcount, turnover, diversity and APS-wide reporting
- analyse workforce data to inform workforce planning and business partnering activities
- present complex data in clear, engaging written, visual and verbal formats
- support continuous improvement and automation of reporting processes
- participate in data communities of practice and cross-agency collaboration.

- knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn, HR information systems such as Aurion
- excellent attention to detail and the ability to plan, prioritise and deliver work to deadlines
- strong communication skills and the ability to explain data clearly to non-technical audiences
- initiative and sound judgement when managing sensitive or complex issues
- a commitment to collaboration, continuous improvement and maintaining data integrity.
