Faulkner Farming is seeking a motivated and capable Cropping Overseer to join our team at The Watermark; a large-scale farming operation located in the NW Slopes/Liverpool Plains region of New South Wales.

Working alongside the Aggregation Manager, you will be overseeing summer and winter cropping programs and driving operational efficiency. With a strong focus on productivity and sustainability, you will be key to achieving successful farming outcomes across the operation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Farm Aggregation Manager to plan and oversee seeding, spraying, harvesting and grain storage/handling operations.
  • Supervise and support staff and contractors to deliver efficient and safe farming practices.
  • Manage cropping programs, including scheduling, resource allocation, and monitoring progress.
  • Provide input into agronomic decision-making, including crop rotations, soil management, and pest/weed control strategies.
  • Monitor crop performance, soil conditions, reporting findings and recommending improvements.
  • Ensure machinery, plant, and equipment are maintained and utilised effectively to minimise downtime.
  • Oversee general farm maintenance, including fencing and infrastructure.
  • Maintain accurate records for compliance, safety, and operational reporting requirements.
  • Drive a strong workplace health and safety culture, ensuring policies and procedures are implemented and followed.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance farm productivity and sustainability.

Skills and Experience:

We are looking for candidates who possess the following:

  • Proven experience overseeing cropping programs at a large-scale farming enterprise.
  • Strong agronomy knowledge, with practical understanding of crop rotations, soil management, and pest/weed control.
  • Experience in planning, scheduling, and coordinating seeding, spraying, and harvesting operations.
  • Ability to supervise, coach, and motivate a team.
  • Proficiency in the operation, maintenance of agricultural machinery and equipment.
  • Strong literacy, numeracy, and record-keeping skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with team members, contractors, and management.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and make decisions under pressure, while also collaborating as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated focus on workplace health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Problem-solving skills with a proactive, solution-focused approach.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Agriculture, Agronomy, or Farm Management (desirable, but practical experience is highly valued).
  • Current Driver's Licence (essential).
  • Advantageous qualifications/experience include:

Heavy Vehicle (HR) Truck Licence

ChemCert accreditation

First Aid certificate

Confined Space and/or Working at Heights certifications

Experience using AgWorld and AgriWebb platforms

About the Property:

The Watermark Aggregation is a 6,000 Ha (~4,400Ha cropping) property located near to Curlewis, 30km south of Gunnedah, 70km northwest of Quirindi, and 80km west of Tamworth. It is a diversified enterprise focusing on mixed cropping and grazing.
