About the Business

We are Australia's largest privately-owned telecommunications company, rapidly growing our MSP business. Our head office is conveniently located in Sydney's CBD. We are currently seeking an experienced Level 2 Network Engineer to join our team.

About the Role

As a Network Engineer you will be responsible for troubleshooting and optimizing LAN and WAN networks as well as designing, implementing and managing firewalls, routers and switches, TCP/IP and Network Security.

In this position your primary objective will be to assist clients in resolution of issues arising with services managed by Arrow and liaise with internal staff and clients to deliver our products and services.

Key Requirements:

  • Advanced understanding of networking principles, concepts and common protocols (eg. OSI layer model, Internet and LAN protocols including subnetting, VLANs, VRF, routing protocols, and considerations for their effective application in an SME environment)
  • Advanced understanding of common application protocols (eg. NTP, DNS, HTTP(s), FTP, etc.)
  • Routing and switching technology for Cisco, HPE, Aruba and common media types (eg. copper and fibre) and their interconnections
  • Strong experience with enterprise firewalls (Cisco, Meraki, Sophos or equivalent enterprise wide stateful deep packet inspection, application aware modern firewalls)
  • Advance understanding of application delivery and load distribution
  • Strong ability to generate professional documentation related to network infrastructure, including high level, detailed and conceptual network diagrams, as-built and operational documentation for various audiences including technical and non-technical staff.
  • Strong investigative skills to resolve problems, mature judgement and a positive service orientation when providing support, advice and guidance to users. Demonstrate a co-operative approach to supply of advice and practical assistance to other IT specialists within the agency
  • Identifying and implementing proactive improvements to existing environments and processes. Passing these opportunities to Account Managers and working with them to scope and deliver.
  • Design and deployment of creative networking solutions, including firewalls, routers, switches and wireless access points.
  • Participation in data center and WAN architecture design and pre-sales work.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior engineers within the network team.
  • responding to high severity escalations.
  • CCNP Certifications are highly desirable

To be Successful in This Role, You Will Have:

  • The ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience in a fast-paced MSP environment and supporting diverse client environments.
  • Ability to work under SLAs and escalation processes.
  • The ability to work autonomously as part of a diverse team.
  • A full and clean driver's license.
  • Comfortable providing remote support and visiting customer sites.
  • Strong adherence to processes and documentation standards.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call roster.
