The Maxwell Underground Mine, owned by Malabar Resources Ltd has commenced operations at their Hunter Valley site, with planned production of up to 8 million tonnes of per annum. With approvals in place out to 2046, the mine targets high quality coal with the majority being metallurgical coal.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Maxwell Underground Mine has a rare opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Team in the Hunter Valley.

As the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will:

  • Provide direction and leadership of electrical engineering matters to meet, or exceed, budgeted performance requirements in a safe and cost-effective manner.
  • Support the Engineering Manager in the timely provision of fit for purpose Infrastructure, Plant and Equipment, by providing technical input into, and managing assigned procurement activities (e.g. Tender and Evaluation, Project and Contract Management and Site Inductions).
  • Ensure site electrical engineering activities are undertaken safely, in compliance with relevant statute requirements.
  • Providing the required availability, reliability and performance necessary to support the organisation achieve approved performance objectives.
  • Develop a high-performance culture within the electrical engineering function through strong leadership, including appropriate communication, coaching, delegating, and performance management.
  • Further duties and responsibilities will be made available to interested candidates.
  • As our preferred candidate will be someone with a can-do attitude, and hands-on approach, who is prepared to effectively contribute to a lean team environment.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Formal qualifications in Electrical Engineering (Advanced diploma / Bachelor Degree)
  • A Practicing Certificate (issued by the NSW Resources Regulator) for the function of Electrical Engineering Manager of UG Coal Mines (or in the process of obtaining the certification).
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the underground coal mining industry
  • Detailed knowledge of underground coal mining equipment
  • Strong technical, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
