About Us:
NAWIC is a passionate and mission-driven not-for-profit organisation dedicated to women working in the construction industry and the supporting sectors across the built environment. NAWIC advocates for gender equality within the workplace and drives changes that will aid in the increased recruitment, retention, and advancement of women within all facets of the construction industry.
NAWIC has chapters across every state and territory, representing women around the country. NAWIC Australia is part of a global NAWIC network with international chapters in USA, NZ, UK, Ireland, South Africa, PNG, Canada. 2025 marks NAWIC's 30th year. NAWIC is a volunteer-led organisation working with a passionate group of approximately 400 volunteers.
Position Overview:
Our organisation is seeking a skilled and creative Communications & Marketing Assistant to join our team. This newly created role will be integral to the successful delivery of our mission-driven projects, fostering strong relationships with our audience through clear, compelling communication and impactful media strategies. The Communications & Marketing Assistant will support our efforts in shaping our public narrative and enhancing our brand presence, assisting with the execution of comprehensive communication strategies. This role will be responsible for crafting engaging content across platforms and promoting the organisation's message in a way that strengthens our reputation and increases engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing strategic communications plans that support organisational goals and promote positive brand visibility across various channels including social media, website and newsletters.
- Create engaging social media, video and photographic content for various channels.
- Maintain the creative content calendar.
- Develop and maintain a photo and video library.
Qualifications or relevant experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Communications or a related discipline and/or relevant work experience in a similar capacity.
- Demonstrated strong writing, editing/proof reading skills and content creation skills across digital platforms with a high level of attention to detail.
- Demonstrated photography, video, design and social media skills.
- Proficiency in social media management platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and graphic design software such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team within a fast-paced environment, utilising guidance and tools provided.
Desirable attributes
- Familiarity with the construction industry.
- Passion for equity, diversity and inclusion with awareness of relevant frameworks.
- Experience using a Content Management System (CMS) and/or email marketing tools.
- Experience working successfully on a remote or work from home basis.
