About the role

Eastern Health is recruiting to Community Mental Health Transition to Speciality Practice positions across numerous mental health teams for 2026, including adult case management at various teams, Maroondah and Box Hill continuing care units (CCU's), Maroondah early psychosis team, ICYMHS Access, older adult case management and the Box Hill MST team (which requires 18 months of experience in contemporary acute mental health).

This 12-month program offers a structured and supportive career development pathway for nurses transitioning from acute inpatient units to community settings. It includes:

  • A progressive workload
  • Dedicated education sessions
  • Clinical supervision
  • Mentoring and team support

About you

You are a motivated, compassionate, recovery-focused RN working in an acute mental health inpatient setting, who is ready to explore the rewarding world of community mental health nursing.

To be successful, you will posses:

  • Bachelor of Nursing or other recognised equivalent formal qualification leading to condition free registration in Australia
  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australian (NMBA) via AHPRA
  • 12 months' post registration employment experience, inclusive of six months' experience in contemporary acute mental health (18 months required for MST position)
  • Demonstrated clinical skills aligned with experience and scope of practice
  • Motivated and self-directed learner who is receptive to feedback
  • Well-developed communication skills
  • Patient centred, recovery focused practice
  • Passion for clinical excellence
  • Willingness to engage in clinical supervision practice
  • Ability to work rotating roster
  • A current valid Victorian Drivers Licence

Highly desirable:

  • You hold, or are actively working towards, a postgraduate qualification in mental health nursing

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
