The role:

Our Sydney based Employment and Safety team is seeking an ambitious Associate/Senior Associate with 2 year + PAE in Employment and Industrial law.

Our team advises and assists a range of employers including number of leading Australian and multinational organisations on all employment, industrial and workplace health and safety matters. The industries in which our clients operate include energy, contractor services, transport, retail, financial services and manufacturing.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with an experienced team led by two Partners, on diverse and interesting matters involving the development and implementation of IR strategies, advice on enterprise bargaining, responding to industrial disputes, drafting and advising on the enforcement of employment agreements, defending unfair dismissal, general protection and discrimination claims, and advising on compliance with WHS laws.

The ideal candidate will be looking for interesting, challenging work with significant client contact and responsibility.

To be successful in this role, ideally you are:

  • committed to progressing your career in employment and industrial law;
  • team oriented with a strong work ethic;
  • commercially astute;
  • interested in the business challenges facing our clients;
  • able to interact confidently with clients and build effective working relationships;
  • have experience in a high quality practice in the areas of employment, workplace relations and occupational health and safety law including in the areas highlighted above
  • possess a detailed understanding of the concepts in the Fair Work Act and discrimination law
  • have demonstrated your ability to provide sound technical advice and practical business focused solutions
