We're currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to join our growing team on a full-time basis. This role will see you contribute as a technical lead on major projects, mentoring other developers and contributing to scalable, enterprise-grade solutions.

About the Role:

You'll play a key role in supporting our development teams and delivering high quality outcomes for some of Australia's leading brands.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where your ability to communicate clearly and guide others through complex solutions will be just as important as your coding expertise. You'll lead projects end to end, support delivery teams, and play a key role in developing our backend capabilities, particularly as we expand our use of API-first and headless technologies.

Experience building or designing APIs is highly desirable, especially if you've worked with API gateways like KrakenD or similar tools used as a BFF (backend for frontend).

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Contributing, or at times leading, the technical architecture, planning, and implementation of backend solutions for large-scale projects
  • Acting as a senior point of contact across projects, providing mentorship and technical guidance to other developers
  • Designing and overseeing enterprise-ready APIs with a focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability
  • Working closely with non-technical stakeholders to manage project dependencies, risks, and delivery timelines
  • Conducting code reviews, running workshops, and contributing to internal knowledge sharing and documentation

Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years as a Backend Software Engineer or in a similar backend-focused role
  • Strong experience in Typescript
    , GCP or AWS, and test-driven development
  • Proven ability to
    lead and deliver complex projects
    , managing both people and code quality
  • Familiarity with API gateways
    , or experience designing and building robust APIs
  • Excellent communication skills, with the
    ability to explain technical concepts
    to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong knowledge of
    scalable software design principles
    , security best practices, and system architecture
  • A team-first mindset with a
    natural inclination to mentor
    , collaborate, and improve engineering processes
