Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Truganina, VIC.

The Truck Parts Interpreter is responsible for identifying, sourcing, and supplying accurate parts solutions for European heavy vehicles. The role involves managing enquiries across phone, email, and walk-ins, preparing quotes and invoices, liaising with suppliers, and ensuring timely delivery of orders.

Because we are a small family business, we are looking for someone who communicates clearly, works well with others, and contributes to a positive, collaborative team environment. The ability to handle customer interactions professionally and maintain strong attention to detail is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and interpret parts using EPCs, catalogues, OEM references, and VIN/Chassis numbers.
  • Provide accurate product advice and fitment guidance.
  • Prepare quotes and invoices using internal systems.
  • Handle phone, in-person, and email enquiries professionally.
  • Liaise with suppliers to source stock, confirm availability, and manage backorders.
  • Support customers across walk-in, workshop, fleet, and online channels.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of European truck components
  • Assist with general stock control and inventory checks.
  • Work collaboratively within a small team to ensure an excellent customer experience.

Qualifications

  • Experience in parts interpretation, with strong knowledge of truck components for European vehicles, particularly Mercedes-Benz and Volvo
  • Prior experience within an automotive, trucking, or heavy vehicle parts environment is advantageous
  • Proficiency in inventory management and handling supplier orders
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively over the phone and in person
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities for identifying and sourcing appropriate parts
  • Proficient computer systems, EPCs, and inventory/order management tools
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain) is an advantage
  • Strong work ethic and consistency in delivering reliable customer service
