Job Objective:

The Carpenter is responsible for the construction, erection, installation and repair of structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, wallboard and other materials.

Job Tasks and Duties:

  • ●  Site safety, plant and power tool safety;
  • ●  Study specifications in blueprint, sketches site conditions to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required;
  • ●  All procedures associated with 1st & 2nd Fixing;
  • ●  Manual lifting & handling;
  • ●  Cut timber & other materials with hand & power tools, nail & assemble cut & shaped parts;
  • ●  Erect framework;
  • ●  Assemble and fasten materials to make framework and props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue;
  • ●  Install structures and move into position;
  • ●  Erect scaffolding for assembling of structures;
  • ●  Construction of the forms including placement of required supports / propping, connection of shutters via z-bars, levelling of wall and induction of pour height;
  • ●  Explain and enforce Occupational Health and Safety requirements and other industrial safety matters;
  • ●  Maintain a safe and clean work environment;
  • ●  Instruct onsite personnel of lesser experience.
