The Aboriginal Legal Service (ALS) was established in a critical act of self-determination over 50 years ago as part of the Aboriginal rights protest movement. We provide high-quality, culturally safe legal and support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people throughout NSW and the ACT, and fight for social justice and equity for our communities.

Your Impact

As a valued member of the Talent Team, you'll play a key role in coordinating and delivering administrative support for recruitment and onboarding at ALS, ensuring processes run smoothly and efficiently. This role helps build a strong, culturally safe team that supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Each day, you will:

  • Maintain accurate recruitment data, records, and reports to support team operations.
  • Assist with recruitment and onboarding metrics, templates, and documentation.
  • Provide administrative support across all recruitment activities, including job postings and interview scheduling.
  • Manage candidate communications, employment contracts, and pre-employment checks.
  • Coordinate onboarding logistics to ensure a smooth and culturally safe experience.
  • Uphold ALS policies and values, supporting a respectful and inclusive workplace.

Your Story & Strengths

You are a skilled and motivated individual who understands and respects the cultural, social, and historical context that shapes the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. You bring both administrative excellence and a deep commitment to supporting community and justice. Key strengths include:

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills, with experience in recruitment, HR, or office support.
  • Proficient with databases, digital systems, and IT tools, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and initiative, with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and support continuous improvement.
  • Skilled at building positive relationships and working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity, ideally with experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisations; candidates who identify as First Nations are strongly encouraged to apply.
