Role Mission

To stabilize and improve a financial application with recurring data and reconciliation issues. The role requires strong financial knowledge (understanding accounting flows, ledgers, transactions) combined with analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies within the application and across connected systems.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Data Reconciliation & Accuracy

  2. Perform reconciliations between the application and other financial systems (GL, bank statements, subledgers).

  3. Investigate and resolve mismatches, missing records, or mis-postings.
  4. Maintain an audit trail of reconciliations and issue resolutions.

  5. Issue Investigation & Root Cause Analysis

  6. Identify recurring data/application errors, assess financial impact, and prioritize fixes.

  7. Work with IT/development teams to diagnose technical issues and validate corrections.
  8. Document issues, root causes, and long-term solutions.

  9. Financial Analysis & Control

  10. Apply accounting knowledge (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, journal entries) to validate system outputs.

  11. Conduct variance analysis to detect anomalies and financial misstatements.
  12. Ensure the application's data aligns with accounting standards and internal controls.

  13. Process Improvement & Stabilization

  14. Recommend improvements to reconciliation processes and system workflows.

  15. Support the automation of repetitive tasks to reduce manual errors.
  16. Strengthen controls to prevent future breakdowns and ensure compliance.

  17. Stakeholder Engagement

  18. Act as the bridge between Finance and IT, translating business requirements into technical actions.

  19. Provide timely updates to finance leadership on issue status and application stability.
  20. Support audits and regulatory reporting by ensuring data reliability.

Required Profile

  • Strong financial knowledge (accounting principles, reconciliations, reporting).
  • Experience with financial applications (ERP, trading platforms, or accounting software).
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail, capable of spotting anomalies.
  • Tools: Excel/SQL essential; BI or reconciliation software is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills to manage both finance stakeholders and technical teams.
