- **Older Person's Advocate - Counsellor** works alongside the Elder Abuse Prevention and Response Liaison Officer to support North West Aged Care Assessment Service (ACAS) implement the trial of an Integrated Model of Care for Responding to Elder Abuse within Victorian Health Services, funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, Elder Abuse Reform.
**Your new role**:
- We are looking for a skilled clinician to support RMH staff as well as clinicians working in the community in identifying and responding to suspected elder abuse.
- Specifically the role is patient - client facing and would include:
- Counselling, support and advocacy services to older persons suspected or identified to be experiencing elder abuse
- Engage counselling practice model that is person-centred and, where applicable, carer/family-inclusive
- An outreach service where required to support accessibility
**About you**:
- Dynamic experienced counsellor with therapeutic intervention and advocacy skills
- Membership of associated peak body where required
- Strong understanding of elder abuse, including causal factors and implications for interventions for older people
