The Opportunity

As the Buyer in Training, you will play a crucial role by contributing to the buying process and helping to maximise profits. Within your role you will be responsible for performing buying duties within development categories, whilst also providing the business administrative assistance, maintaining accurate records, and facilitating communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Reporting to the Senior Buyer, your responsibilities will be as follows but not limited to:

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide administrative support to your line manager within their wider portfolio
  • Assist the manager in tasks such as sourcing products, negotiating prices and ensuring timely delivery of goods
  • Maintain and establish strong working relationships with Production & Sourcing team, ensuring the fulfillment of new product objectives
  • Initiate, establish and maintain strong communication with suppliers/vendors ensuring they understand on expectations and requirements, including quality standards, delivery schedule and pricing.
  • Work closely with the finance team to ensure accuracy and currency of all prices, contributing to financial transparency
  • Regularly update team on performance of all products within your category by providing valuable insights and recommendations

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organisation and time management skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated MS Office skills in particular Excel
  • Experience with a large ERP system is advantageous
