Environmental Health Officer
Location: Oran Park, South West Sydney
Contract Type: 4-month contract

Pay Rate: Competitive pay rates

About the Role

ACM is currently seeking a dedicated and proactive Environmental Health Officer for a fantastic opportunity to work with a local government division. This is a great chance to get your foot in the door and make a real impact in the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct food premises inspections using the FPAR
  • Provide excellent customer service to retail food proprietors
  • Issue correspondence including FPAR reports, educational materials, Improvement Notices, and regulatory reports as required
  • Perform inspections of beauty salons and skin penetration premises
  • Investigate and resolve assigned complaints
  • Attend pollution incidents and provide pollution control advice
  • Implement and conduct environmental monitoring and reporting programs
  • Liaise with councils, state government bodies, and community groups
  • Represent Council in legal proceedings when required
  • Promote environmental health initiatives within the community
  • Undertake inspections and regulate various premises, including:
  • Food premises
  • Temporary food stalls
  • Mobile food vendors
  • Skin penetration and hairdressing services
  • Public swimming pools
  • Mortuaries
  • On-site sewage management systems
Desirable Skills:
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to negotiate and educate key stakeholders
  • Capacity to adopt an educational approach with escalation to regulation as required
  • Willingness to assist the broader EHO team as needed

Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant science, applied science or similar degree, with previous experience in an environmental health role
  • Current C Class Driver's Licence
  • Availability for on-call duties outside normal office hours
  • Ability to conduct inspections outside office hours
  • Willing to complete:
    • Police check
    • Pre-employment medical
