The opportunity

We are in the market for a highly skilled and motivated Projects Manager – Major Projects to manage the City's major capital works projects.

Reporting to the Manager Project Management, this role will be responsible for managing the delivery of major building and infrastructure construction projects, including:

  • leading internal groups and expert consultants
  • coordinating the design process through from concept schematic drawings to construction contract documentation
  • providing quality infrastructure project management services to the organisation, including timely and budget sensitive delivery of major capital works projects
  • efficiently and effectively managing major capital works projects by facilitating multi-disciplinary teams, with a high degree of competency and autonomy
  • applying best practice methods for contract administration, including the assessment of and response to variations, extension of time and other contract related requests
  • actively managing project and contractual risks and compliance, and preparing project risk registers with clear mitigation plans
  • facilitating the procurement and contract awarding process
  • ensuring programmed targets and budgets are met

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. engineering, construction or building)
  • Post-graduate qualification in project management
  • A minimum of 10 years relevant experience in delivering major building and civil infrastructure capital works projects
  • Recognition by the Institution of Engineers Australia (Engineers Australia) as a Professional Engineer (or equivalent)
  • Be a current active Project Management Institute (PMI) certificate holder at PMP, or possess an equivalent project management recognition (highly desirable)
  • Current unrestricted C class national driver's licence
