About the Role

As a Strategic Transport Planner, you will:

  • Lead and deliver strategic transport planning projects that integrate transport and land use to support sustainable growth across Chatswood CBD and the broader Willoughby area.
  • Collaborate across internal teams and external stakeholders to embed transport outcomes in planning policies and contribute to place-making strategies.
  • Drive initiatives that promote walking, cycling, public transport, and shared mobility, addressing infrastructure gaps and enhancing safety, especially for vulnerable road users.
  • Provide expert advice on planning proposals and major developments, ensuring alignment with Council's long-term transport vision and integrated transport strategy.
  • Manage complex stakeholder engagement and coordination, balancing competing demands while maintaining a focus on safety, accessibility, and liveability.

What You'll Bring

  • Tertiary degree qualification in Transport Planning or equivalent together with significant experience in the field.
  • Working knowledge of planning legislation and the strategic planning framework in NSW
  • Demonstrated application of principles and techniques of transport planning and traffic management including sustainable transport (travel demand management, walking cycling and public transport)
  • Good communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with other professionals, industry representatives, community groups and individuals
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to plan, organise and set priorities.
  • A current NSW Class C Driver's Licence

Desirable

  • Knowledge or Experience in Local or State Government or similar environments
  • Knowledge of NSW development control legislation and regulations
