A casual opportunity for a Speech Pathology student to gain valuable hands-on experience at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Woolloongabba, part of Metro South Health's Allied Health & Rehabilitation Division. Perfect for those currently completing their tertiary studies in Speech Pathology.
Your New Role
As a Speech Pathology Trainee, you'll play a key part in delivering safe, patient-centred, and compassionate care while developing your clinical skills under the supervision of experienced Allied Health professionals. You'll contribute to the effective delivery of speech pathology services and work across a range of clinical settings by:
- Supporting assessment and treatment activities under professional supervision.
- Providing education to patients and families on defined speech and communication topics.
- Communicating effectively with the multidisciplinary team to support patient care.
- Participating in meetings, quality improvement, and professional development activities.
- Maintaining accurate clinical records and assisting with administrative tasks as required.
- Working collaboratively to achieve team goals and uphold Metro South Health values.
About You
You are a dedicated and compassionate Speech Pathology student looking to apply your academic knowledge in a practical healthcare setting. You'll bring enthusiasm, professionalism, and a commitment to learning by:
- Being currently enrolled in an accredited Australian Speech Pathology degree (Undergraduate or Masters).
- Demonstrating effective communication and teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Showing empathy, respect, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions.
- Taking initiative and accountability in your learning and work practices.
- Upholding safety, quality, and ethical standards in every aspect of care.
- Holding (or being eligible for) a current Working with Children Blue Card and required vaccinations.

Princess Alexandra Hospital
The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) is a tertiary health care centre providing care in most major adult specialties. We provide world class health care to Brisbane City's southern suburbs across emergency, medical, mental health and surgical services, including liver and kidney transplant.
