Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of people with disabilities? Sunnyhaven is seeking dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to join our team on a casual basis. Our purpose is to provide individualised services that help people build on their strengths and achieve their goals.

About the Role

As a Support Worker, you will provide direct care and support under the supervision of a Team Leader to our clients within either supported independent living or day program settings. This is a hands-on role where you will be an essential part of a team dedicated to meeting the daily physical, emotional, and social needs of our clients.

What You'll Do

  • Provide personal support, including assistance with dressing, bathing, toileting, and eating
  • Support clients in developing independence in personal care and hygiene
  • Help clients develop community skills by facilitating participation in activities like shopping, meal planning, and budgeting
  • Support clients with household duties such as cooking, laundry, and cleaning to maintain a safe and hygienic living environment
  • Ensure all medical assessments are attended and medications are administered according to policy
  • Support and encourage clients to maintain contact with family, friends, and advocates
  • Actively participate in the development and implementation of Person-Centered Plans to help clients achieve their individual goals

There are some essential criteria you must meet to be eligible to work in this field:

  • Eligibility to obtain/maintain a NDIS worker check and NSW Working with children check (applicants who currently hold these certifications will be prioritised)
  • A current unrestricted Australian driver's license
  • Availability to work across a 24/7 roster, including shiftwork, weekends, sleepovers, and public holidays
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and relate well to clients and their families
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to team goals
  • Computer literacy and ability to write clear and professional case notes
  • Relevant experience working with people with disabilities or a related field is highly regarded
