With further expansion of Ammann Australia's asphalt and concrete plant service team, we are seeking a professional Field Service Technician to be part of our growth strategy in the NSW market, to and assist with mechanical, electro-mechanical and pneumatic system maintenance on our OEM equipment.

The successful candidate will be a qualified Mechanical Fitter with proven mechanical skills, fault-finding experience and ability to work autonomously. This person will also need to have a proven history of reliability, possess a strong work ethic and have a desire to learn new things. Experience in the mineral processing or asphalt plant industries would be an advantage.

A commitment to working in a safe manner is an extremely important function of this role. A comprehensive knowledge of on-site risk assessment, the ability to create a SWMS or JSA if required and experience in establishing work permits is also required.

Whilst the intention is to base this role between Northern Sydney to Newcastle region, it is likely that the role will involve either local or interstate travel. The role would best suit a candidate that is very flexible and prepared to work away from home on an ad-hoc basis and at short notice.

As part of the requirements for the job, the role will consist of tasks working at heights of up to 40m, confined spaces and working around high temperatures, therefore the candidate shall be able to demonstrate their competency and experience in such environments to fulfil these duties.

This role will best suit a person who using their skills and experience to help drive a progressive service department. The function also offers opportunities for career progression for the right candidate who is focussed on personal development, long-term commitment and loyalty to the company.

Reporting directly to the Service Manager, your duties & responsibilities will include but not limited:

  • Compliance to all Safety Requirements and Training.
  • Delivery of site mechanical work on equipment such as conveyors, bucket elevators, aggregate screening plants, mixers, screw conveyors, pumps and pneumatic cylinders.
  • Assisting with new asphalt plant installation projects where required.
  • Fault finding Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical and Pneumatic systems.
  • Process support and diagnostics, often using Ammann as1 control systems.
  • Building customer relationships and upselling the Company's products and services
  • Liaising with existing internal and external clients

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Able to read and work to technical, pneumatic, electrical drawings (desirable) and OEM maintenance manuals.
  • Qualification in a trade discipline that is relative to the role, with a least 4 years post qualification experience in same or similar field /industry.
  • A good communicator who has experience with managing customer relationships and communicating at all levels from labour through to management level.
  • White Card, EWP, Confined Space, Working at Heights, Forklift licenses are required.
  • Proven on-site experience working with latest legislative requirements in high-risk work, along with solid personal commitment to working safely.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously with a positive "can do" attitude.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and work to deadlines.
  • A working knowledge of, and proven experience with asphalt plants, quarry equipment or material processing plants is beneficial.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to complete set tasks to a high standard.
  • Tenacity, able to repeatedly work to overcome obstacles to complete tasks on time.
  • Efficiency orientation, seeking best use of resources
  • Computer literate, Microsoft Office suite.
  • An Australian Citizen or permanent resident with rights to work in Australia.
