  • Lead Energy & Market-Risk Oversight
  • Shape Enterprise Governance, Risk and Compliance
  • Legacy Leadership Opportunity

The Opportunity

Join CS Energy as Head of Risk and play a pivotal role in our strategic transformation. Reporting to the Chief Corporate Services Officer and working closely with the Executive Leadership Team and Board, you'll lead a multidisciplinary team, unify energy, financial and enterprise Governance, Risk and Compliance, and drive innovation, resilience, and compliance across the organisation.

This role represents a rare opportunity to lead a portfolio of significant scale and complexity during a once-in-a-generation energy transition. As CS Energy undertakes an uplift of its governance, risk and compliance ecosystem, this senior leadership role aligns Energy & Financial Market Risk and Enterprise Governance, Risk & Compliance into a single function central to the organisation's strategic direction.

With enterprise-wide influence across governance, risk, compliance, market trading, retail, resilience, critical-infrastructure security and fraud control, the remit of this role spans market-risk analytics and exposure governance; trading and retail compliance (including AFSL and AML/CTF); enterprise policy and governance frameworks; enterprise risk and compliance; Security of Critical Infrastructure (SoCI) Program leadership; and crisis management.

Early priorities include integrating two previously separate teams, modernising policy and governance frameworks, strengthening oversight of trading, retail and emerging gas-market exposures, uplifting SoCI compliance and maturing market-risk analytics capability. You will also build enterprise resilience and provide authoritative leadership and insight to the Finance, Risk and Audit Committee, Board and Executive Leadership Team.

Responsibilities include

  • Lead integrated governance, risk, compliance, resilience and fraud-control programs
  • Oversee energy and financial market-risk methodologies, analytics and exposure governance
  • Inspire, develop and unify a high-performing multidisciplinary team
  • Govern the risk-appetite framework and ensure alignment to strategic objectives
  • Drive uplift across enterprise governance, committees, policies, delegations and records management
  • Lead SoCI Program delivery and security posture
  • Provide second-line assurance and verification, constructive challenge and strategic insight to senior leaders and the Board
  • Lead crisis management and build enterprise-wide resilience capability

About You

You are an accomplished senior leader with deep expertise in governance, risk and compliance within the energy sector (strongly preferred) or financial markets, bringing intellectual depth, commercial acumen and the credibility to advise the Board, Executive Leadership and market-facing teams.

You have a strong track record of uplifting enterprise risk, compliance and governance frameworks and navigating complex regulatory environments with clarity and confidence. A collaborative leader, you unify diverse teams through transformation and build enduring capability in highly regulated settings. You also hold, or can obtain, the required qualifications, including AFSL Responsible Manager eligibility, security clearance and CPRM or AFMA accreditation.

Why This Role Matters

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the governance, risk and compliance foundations of an organisation that plays a critical role in Queensland's energy system.

With new markets, evolving regulatory expectations and a rapidly diversifying asset portfolio, the leader stepping into this role will influence CS Energy's strategic resilience and market integrity for years to come.

This is your opportunity to leave a lasting legacy: strengthening organisational trust, uplifting maturity, shaping commercial decision-making and positioning CS Energy for long-term success in an increasingly complex energy landscape.
