About the role:
Engineers Australia Sydney Division delivers a range of CPD, Networking, STEM and Community outreach activities based out of our on-site auditorium facilities and occasional off-site locations in Sydney. The Assistant is primarily responsible for: (1) supporting events held in the auditorium including operation and maintenance of the audio-visual equipment, facilities and assets, and (2) supporting and representing Engineers Australia at off-site activities including Division led CPD, Advocacy and Celebration events as well as Careers and STEM outreach programs. And (3) supporting the Sydney Office in an administrative capacity. This is a casual opportunity offering up to 28 hours per fortnight. This role is onsite and often entails evening work in conjunction with our evening events.
In this role you will:
- Support activities in the Auditorium, managing catering, audio-visual setups, and event logistics.
- Ensure the auditorium is tidy, open, and closed appropriately for events.
- Operate and maintain AV equipment during events.
- Assist with event setup, welcoming attendees, and housekeeping.
- Record attendance for CPD and WH&S compliance.
- Prepare event catering and maintain a hygienic kitchen.
- Manage auditorium inventory and reorder supplies as needed.
- Assist with guest registration and liaison at offsite events.
- Participate in Career Fairs and STEM events as a representative.
- Respond efficiently to inquiries from event attendees, directing complex issues to Member Services.
- Supporting Fellow Eng Exec /Recognition event with certificate management
- Administrative support duties as required including updating records in CRM, completing event briefs, post event reporting, invoicing

Here's what we're looking for:
- You have or are studying a degree or certificate in a relevant field or have equivalent experience preferred
- You are bright, positive and customer-oriented attitude
- You maintain excellent verbal communication skills and have good written skills
- You are comfortable working and understanding audio-visual equipment.
- You do well remaining calm under pressure
- You will do well in this role if you have a willingness to support other team members
- You remain professional and diligent and use your initiative when completing tasks
- You are reliable and respectful of fellow staff and stakeholders
- You are computer literate and have a good understanding of Microsoft 365 and an aptitude to learn new programs
- Some experience in events and hospitality is desirable
- RSA certified preferred or willing to get one. WWCC may also be required.
