Medical Administrator / Patient Support Officer – Career Growth Opportunity

SMS Group is seeking passionate and motivated Patient Support Officers / Medical Administrators to become part of our enthusiastic administrative teams at our Earlwood, Sans Souci, and Bangor clinics. Multiple roles are available on a casual, full-time, or part-time basis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage patient appointments, phone calls, and enquiries.
  • Process billing, payments, and Medicare/HICAPS claims.
  • Perform scanning, data entry, and document management.
  • Coordinate investigations and correspondence for clinicians.
  • Provide a welcoming first impression to patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Support clinic operations across multiple locations as needed.

About You:
  • Professional, approachable, and adaptable in a multi-clinic environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and primary care workflows.
  • High attention to detail with sound problem-solving skills.
  • Confident team player who thrives in busy medical settings.

Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Experience using Best Practice Software and HICAPS terminals.
  • Previous medical reception or administration experience.
  • Flexibility to work across Earlwood, Sans Souci, and Bangor.
  • Multilingual abilities (Greek, Cantonese, Mandarin, Italian, Arabic, or Mongolian) highly regarded.
  • University graduates encouraged to apply.

About Specialist Medical Services Group:

Specialist Medical Services Group manages and leads several medical services at both Primary Care (Specialist GP) and Secondary Care (Specialist Physicians/Surgeons) settings. We are a group established by a team of health and management professionals with a passion for providing affordable and excellent quality of healthcare services.

All centres are multidisciplinary medical practices that provides comprehensive clinical services. They are all managed by Specialist Medical Services (SMS). For the Earlwood location, we are also the FIRST and ONLY medical centre in NSW that is accredited by Veteran Evaluation Services in the United States to provide clinical review and certification for American Veterans in Australia.
