Mt Owen/Glendell Operations (MGO) is an open cut mining operation which utilises truck and excavator mining methods to produce thermal and semi-soft coking coal, which is predominantly exported for domestic power generation and use in steel production. We are located within the Hunter Coalfields at Hebden in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales.

An opportunity exists for an experienced Shotfirer to join the Blast crew. Reporting to the Drill and Blast Supervisor, this role is Monday to Friday, dayshift only. You will be responsible for loading and firing blast holes while monitoring compliance with site procedures, environmental and government regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a proactive attitude to safety, strong work ethic, with the ability to work in a highly motivated drill and blast team.

The requirements for success in this role include:

  • Current Blasting Explosives User's Licence and an Unsupervised Handler's Licence (mandatory).
  • Shotfiring experience in an Open Cut Coal Mine.
  • Understanding of NSW Coal Mining and WHS Statutory obligations.
