Your new role:

As the Aircraft Assembly Operator, you will be working closely with the assembly team on critical projects within the aerospace/defence industry. Reporting to the Assembly Supervisor, you will be responsible for structural builds, working on military aircrafts exhibiting a strong focus on quality in a dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Reading and following work instructions / engineering plans, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings being highly advantageous.
  • Jig assembly utilising liquid shimming during pre-structure build.
  • Drilling and reaming of structural holes, deburring and countersinking.
  • Using pneumatic drills in confined areas (structure drilling).
  • Using measuring equipment, vernier calipers, pin gauges, go/no-go gauges, feeler gauges, surface thickness gauges, depth gauges.
  • Bonding composite parts to metallic surfaces, assembly and bonding of anchor nuts.
  • Final structure assembly incorporating the application of sealants.
  • Using pneumatic nut fasteners, fastener grip length gauges and handheld electric fastener torque runners.
  • Ancillary tasks and assembly processes controlled by work instructions and planning.

As an ideal candidate you will have:

  • Strong mechanical background.
  • Experience using hand tools.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow supervisory direction.
  • Demonstrate proven experience of Work Health and Safety practices.
  • Experience within the automotive industry and or a similar role would be advantageous but not essential.

This role is an integral part of a wider team and will involve working safely near others, with minimal supervision. It may also require working either a day or an afternoon shift.
