Key responsibilities will include:

  • Provides individual and group support to students facing social, emotional, and behavioural challenges, promoting wellbeing and resilience.
  • Collaborates with Inter-relationship Leaders (Heads of Year) and other wellbeing staff to identify and respond to student needs through appropriate interventions. This may include counselling, group programs, parent/caregiver education, staff consultation and building staff capacity.
  • Builds strong relationships with students, families, and staff to foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.
  • Engages families as active partners in their child's development and connects them with relevant external support services as needed.
  • Responds effectively to crises and critical incidents with appropriate care, sensitivity, and professional practice
  • Demonstrates and enthusiastic approach to developing relationships across the school community including a willingness to engage in extra-curricular activities.
  • Works to remove barriers to learning by addressing social or emotional issues that impact student engagement, attendance, or academic progress.
  • Supports staff by providing guidance and strategies for managing student behaviour and wellbeing in the classroom, particularly for students with complex needs.
  • Contributes to student support plans (e.g., IEPs, Behaviour Support Plans, Risk Management Plans) and attends case management meetings as required.
  • Promotes student voice and agency by helping students develop self-awareness, coping strategies, and social-emotional skills that enhance learning outcomes.
  • Uses data and evidence-based practices to monitor the impact of wellbeing interventions on student growth and development.
  • Supports and upholds the Catholic faith, vision and mission of Holy Cross College in all practices.
  • Models Gospel values such as compassion, respect, and integrity in interactions with students, families, and staff.
  • Recognize and affirm the inherent dignity and unique strengths of every student, fostering their holistic wellbeing.
  • Ensure that all interventions align with the Bishops of WA Mandate and the College's Vision and Mission, promoting a faith-centered approach to care.
  • Manage resources responsibly to maximise the impact of interventions and wellbeing programs.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with ethical standards, policies, and legal requirements.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to improve service quality and uphold accountability.
  • Other duties as directed by the Principal or delegate.
