Year 3 - Year 10 Tutor (Reserve)

Lunar Academy prides itself on being the best place for students to enhance their education and achieve their dreams. We teach students of ALL LEVELS, from those who have just started school (kindergarten) to those in their final secondary years (VCE/IB). We are a tuition centre that is located in the heart of Point Cook.

WE ARE CURRENTLY SEEKING TUTORS WHO CAN CONFIDENTLY TEACH MATHEMATICS AND ENGLISH TO STUDENTS IN YEARS 3 TO 10, BOTH IN PRIVATE AND GROUP SETTINGS. ADDITIONALLY, WE PREFER TUTORS WHO CAN TEACH AT LEAST ONE SENIOR LEVEL SUBJECT (VCE/IB).

While we do not currently have any active classes or students ready to begin lessons, our tutors are nearly fully booked, creating a growing need for additional support when new students request our help.

Responsibilities:

Tutors are the leaders of the classroom, responsible for ensuring the academic, social, and emotional success of their students. At Lunar Academy, we believe students learn best when their tutor customises the content and teaching style to suit their individual needs. Tutors must actively engage with the administration team to gather activities and resources tailored to their students' strengths and weaknesses. We provide abundant resources and support to ensure your success.

Tutors are required to communicate regularly about their students' progress. While some parents prefer informal weekly chats, others may request detailed written feedback. Tutors are expected to accommodate these preferences and help students and parents understand their educational outcomes.

Qualifications

• Must have experience with interacting with people. This can include teaching, hospitality, retail, etc.
• Strong subject knowledge and teaching ability (assessed during interviews and trial sessions).
• Kindergarten: Must have experience interaction with children under the age of 5. This can include through teaching, babysitting or clubs. We prefer first or second year university students, but high school students and graduates are welcome to apply. Must be able to teach mathematics and English at a fundamental level.
• Primary School: Must have experience interaction with children under the age of 13. This can include through teaching, babysitting or clubs. We prefer first or second year university students, but high school students and graduates are welcome to apply. Must be able to teach maths and English.
• Secondary Students: Must have graduated secondary school. We are looking for tutors across various subjects, including English, Mathematics, Science, and more. You don't need to specialise in all of them—experience in one subject is also valuable.

Requirements:

• Must be able to commute to Point Cook at our centre.
• Must have or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check.
• Must have or be willing to obtain an ABN.
• Must have strong time management skills, demonstrated through the ability to work during busy periods, including exam season.
• Must be available during students' exam periods, particularly in November, with no holidays or time off during this time.

Preferred Attributes:

• Tutors currently majoring in their teaching subject at university.
• High academic achievements (e.g., high study scores or ATAR).
• Previous teaching or tutoring experience.
• Availability across multiple days of the week.
• Ability to start immediately.
