What does this role look like?
We're looking for a motivated Asbestos Specialist / Asbestos Lab Tech (open to either part-time or full-time basis), who is ready to hit the ground running. You will be joining a tight-knit, ambitious team to conduct onsite asbestos inspections and analysis in our fully equipped mobile lab. You'll play a key role in building strong foundations for the business through clear and professional communication with both clients and team members.
What You'll Do:
- Lead asbestos inspections, sample collection and analysis aligned with AS 5370 and ISO 17025
- Prepare documentation & reports to NATA-accredited standards (report templates provided)
- Use tools like PLM, stereo microscopes & field sampling equipment
- Stay current with asbestos-related regulations and drive compliance
- Communicate clearly with clients, builders, and civilians onsite
- Participate in internal training, team meetings, and contribute to growth
What You Bring:
Must-haves:
- Experience in asbestos identification, testing and handling
- Experience in a NATA-accredited laboratory with familiarity with ISO 17025, AS 5370 (previously AS 4964) or ISO 22262
- 3+ years of relevant field experience (asbestos-focused)
- Satisfactory results from external Proficiency Testing (specifically for asbestos ID in bulk building materials) within the last 2 years (PTA)
- PLM & Stereo Microscope knowledge and experience (must)
- Australian Driver's License (must - we're a mobile laboratory)
- Strong time management and autonomy
- Experience / knowledge of asbestos and how to identify it using a microscope (must)
- Ability to positively lead a team as we grow (we want you and your role to grow with us)
Highly desirable:
- Knowledge of SharePoint & Ascora
- WHS tickets (e.g. Working at Heights, Asbestos Awareness)
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Hygiene, Environmental Science, or similar
