The Office of Senator Kerrynne Liddleis seeking applications for the full-time ongoing position of Administration, Constituents and Communications Officer (EOA), based in the Senator's Office in Adelaide, South Australia.
Position overview
The role will be responsible for supporting the Office Manager and associated public affairs functions. The successful candidate will have proficiency and working knowledge in systems and processes to support the efficient operations of an electorate office.
Attention to detail and organisational skills, as well as being able to respond to a high volume of material in a work environment with changing and competing priorities will be essential.
The ideal applicant will have the highest levels of respect for confidentiality, responsibility and integrity of political office.
The key duties of the position are:
- Opening and closing of the Electorate office.
- Answering and triaging incoming calls and attending to reception for walk-ins.
- Ordering of office stationery and supporting the Senator with IT related matters.
- Assisting in organising the Senator's diary and printing of diary and other relevant items.
- Maintaining the stakeholder database, records management and photo library.
- Responding to the Senator's inbox (triaging to other staff) and engagement.
- Supporting the development and uploading of social media posts and producing opportunities for media and promotion of work of the Parliamentarian, including for social media and regular reporting of performance and analytics on social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc).
- Maintaining the Senator's website including managing hosting contract.
- Assisting in the organisation and set up of events, meetings and activities for the Senator.
- Producing, designing and distributing newsletters and other constituent communication materials.
- Being the Electorate Office's Workplace Health and Safety representative and manage day-to-day issues with the Department of Finance
- Protecting the sensitivity and confidentiality of files, documents and activities of the office and maintaining a clean and safe workspace, contributing to a safe and respectful workplace culture and abiding by work health and safety laws, policies and procedures
- Other duties as required for the efficient functioning of the office.
The ideal applicant:
- Is self-motivated and able to work under pressure, to tight deadlines and with limited supervision.
- Has well developed verbal and written communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Uses software such as Microsoft Office and other relevant office applications with competence and confidence.
- Experience or qualifications in administration as well as public affairs and or experience in another political office is desirable.
Employment conditions:
The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement which include:
- A commencing salary between $74,537 and $78,911 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills.
- An additional optional electorate staff allowance of up to $18,576 may be negotiated in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.
- Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements).
- An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.
Applicants should note the following:
- A probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.
- The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check.
- Staff may be subject to automatic cessation triggers in accordance with Section 14 of the MOP(S) Act.
- The successful applicant will be required to comply with their obligations under the Behaviour Codes and Standards.
