Crown Street Public School, situated in the vibrant inner-city suburb of Surry Hills, Sydney, serves a diverse student body of 292. Our school culture emphasises connectedness, inclusion, and a strong sense of belonging, fostering collaboration among students, staff, families, and the wider community to promote academic achievement and excellence.
Our multicultural community enriches the learning environment, with 35 different languages spoken on-site. The Mandarin Chinese Community Language Program plays a vital role in helping students maintain and enhance their communicative skills in their community language. Notably, 55% of our students come from a language background other than English. A small number of students identify as Aboriginal, and our school community encompasses a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds.
We provide various extracurricular opportunities in STEM, focusing on coding and robotics, Information and Digital Technologies, Performing and Creative Arts, Sports and Physical Education, as well as Debating and Public Speaking.

Selection CriteriaIn addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary:
Ability to lead and evaluate the implementation of evidence-based literacy and numeracy programs by using data-driven processes and high-quality differentiated teaching and learning to effectively address diverse student needs.
Demonstrated high level experience in providing differentiated support and mentorship for a diverse staff whilst balancing the dual role of classroom teacher and a member of the executive team to support the implementation of the School Excellence Plan (SEP).
Demonstrated success in building authentic connections and the ability to collaborate with students, staff, parents and the community to enhance wellbeing outcomes for all students.
Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
