Job Details

The Lead Data Engineer will support the AECs Enterprise Integration Team by designing, developing, and maintaining data integration solutions across on-premises and cloud applications. Using Microsoft Azure tools, the engineer will develop efficient, secure data pipelines and ensure compliance, performance, and quality across integrated systems.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design integration solutions using Azure Data Factory and SQL

  • Develop and maintain ETL pipelines adhering to best practices for data transformation

  • Design data models focused on scalability, accuracy, and performance

  • Implement validation processes and ensure high data quality across systems

  • Optimise data pipelines for performance and resource efficiency

  • Document technical specifications, data flows, and procedures

  • Resolve data integration issues and collaborate on preventive solutions

  • Stay current with data engineering trends and tools

  • Perform other duties as required

Selection Criteria

Essential Criteria

  1. Proven experience in data engineering, including data integration, ETL processes, and data modelling

  2. Strong SQL skills and familiarity with data warehousing concepts

  3. Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance best practices

  4. Excellent problem-solving and team collaboration skills

  5. Effective communicator across technical and non-technical stakeholders

  6. Demonstrated ability to work independently and build effective working relationships

Desirable Criteria

  1. Proficiency in Microsoft Azure tools and services (Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database)

  2. Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience

  3. Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer, AWS Data Analytics)
