Description

Are you a strategic commercial leader ready to drive performance and innovation across a dynamic infrastructure portfolio? Downer is seeking a Commercial Director to lead commercial and risk management across our Specialised Pavements and NSW businesses.

As the Commercial Director, you will play a pivotal role in leading commercial and risk management across a diverse portfolio of projects. Reporting to the GM Commercial & Risk, you will be responsible for establishing strategic processes that drive performance, improvement, and development. This role demands a proactive approach to commercial reporting, governance, and financial oversight, ensuring clarity and visibility of commercial performance to influence decision-making and results. 

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely commercial reporting aligned with Downer standards.
  • Lead commercial reviews for bids and support negotiation of contracts.
  • Provide strategic advice on project delivery and risk management.
  • Establish commercial plans and registers for new projects.
  • Monitor business performance and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Promote Zero Harm and sustainability across all business decisions.

What you'll bring 

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, law, finance, engineering, or a related field (postgraduate desirable).
  • 5+ years' experience in a senior commercial role within construction or infrastructure.
  • Proven leadership in driving commercial excellence and change.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • High emotional intelligence, resilience, and a collaborative mindset.
  • A passion for mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
