Head of Formulation

We are hiring for a Head of Formulation Development based in our Braeside Manufacturing Site.
Purpose:
This senior role plays a crucial role in developing new product formulation development according to the Innovation strategy. The position covers product and process development across process improvement initiatives as well as extending and creating new dosage forms and formats. It requires designing and conducting experiments and trials in the laboratory and production within specified timeframes and progressing these ideas to commercialisation.
This role reports to the Group Product Development Director and is a leadership role within the Innovation & Development Services Function. Whilst being a leadership role, this role is looking for a hands-on leader who is outcome focused coupled with strong collaborative skills to work with diverse cross functional stakeholders across marketing, commercial, product quality and international teams
This role will be based in our Braeside Manufacturing Site in Victoria.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead the formulation and technical development of innovative products and concepts, from lab trials to pilot batches and commercialisation.
- Manage the formulation development budget, ensuring cost-effective delivery of projects.
- Provide technical expertise and advice to internal stakeholders, supporting the promotion of the company's innovation capabilities.
- Design and conduct experiments and trials in both laboratory and production settings.
- Prepare, maintain, and approve technical documentation including product master documents, specifications, and GMP-compliant records.
- Ensure the formulation team maintains high standards and receives ongoing training aligned with job requirements and TGA quality standards.
- Review and maintain SOPs related to new products and R&D lab equipment.
- Support operations teams in identifying root causes of product failures and driving process improvements.
- Attend meetings with internal and external suppliers to support development and manufacturing activities.
- Contribute to strategic and global innovation initiatives aligned with business objectives.
- Provide timely and efficient technical support for the manufacturing of new products.
- Support the approval process for new materials and innovative product concepts.

Who are you?
Minimum 10 years' experience in pharmaceutical or nutritional supplement manufacturing, with a strong focus on solid dose and softgel formulation.
Proven leadership experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
Deep understanding of pharmaceutical quality systems, GMP, and Quality by Design (QbD) principles.
Strong track record of delivering compliant, innovative, and commercially successful products.
Strategic thinker with sound commercial acumen and analytical skills.
Knowledge of raw materials, excipients, active ingredients, and contract manufacturing operations.
Experience with Stage Gate innovation processes.
Demonstrated ability to work across cultures, with experience in China/Asian markets
