About The Team & The Position
Energy Markets & Corporate Digital Systems (EMCDS)
run product teams to support, maintain and develop AEMO's corporate & market applications used by AEMO business operations teams and our market participants. EMCDS also contribute to helping ensure projects are delivered on-time and to budget and aligned to AEMO's technical standards.

The Sr. Tester plays a key role in the planning, test designing, test execution, and delivery of project testing for
National Electricity Market (NEM)
Retail.

Position Responsibilities

• Take ownership of high-quality system testing, primarily manual, ensuring timely execution and effective defect resolution.
• Work independently and collaboratively to deliver assigned tasks efficiently.
• Provide input for test planning and documentation, and support SIT, UAT, and Industry Testing.
• While the role focuses on manual testing, candidates with hands-on experience in UI and API automation using Playwright, Selenium, Postman, and ReadyAPI are preferred.
• A strong willingness to learn and contribute to automation and performance testing initiatives is highly valued.
• Support the maintenance and enhancement of automated test suites and assist in advancing the team's automation capability.
• Mentor team members and ensure smooth test execution in compliance with Market Rules and Procedures.
• Build a strong understanding of AEMO applications and their usage by market participants.
• Collaborate with Test Lead and Test Manager to support successful delivery of projects and BAU activities.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of system testing processes and standards.

Position Requirements
Skills & Experience:

• Strong experience in software testing across diverse project environments.
• Experience in test automation using Playwright, Selenium, and API tools like Postman and ReadyAPI, along with CI/CD integration, would be a strong advantage.
• Exposure to performance testing tools (e.g., LoadRunner) is highly desirable.
• Experience in the National Electricity Market (NEM) or Utility sector is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work on complex projects involving web-based, client-server, and batch applications.
• Experience with Cosmos DB and Azure services (e.g., AKS, Function Apps, Databricks) is advantageous.
• Skilled in database testing and use of test management tools such as Jira and PractiTest.
• Solid understanding of testing principles in regulated multi-system environments.
• Experience working within Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD frameworks.
• Committed to continuous improvement in quality and delivery efficiency.

Education/ Professional Certifications

• Tertiary level qualifications in IT, Computer Science or technology discipline ideal
• ISTQB certification or a certification in automation testing is desirable
